This is beautiful (#1 - All because I fondly recall my Mother quoting each) and it’s so intimate it feels like spying and to add to your affirmation: Myles is so loved.

Elyse, I really feel so full in life. Such a privilege to experience this kind of fullness.

For years, I’ve held on to “what’s for me, wont miss me”. To date, it still hasn’t failed me.

Well said Wifey. I really enjoy building this life together with you. I hope these years together go by painfully slow.

1. I’m meant to be here, to the world you may be one person and to one person you may be the world.

2. This is hard, but honestly a work through of the even if I’m not the best fit for where I am, I am going to do the best I can with where I am. Period. A space was carved out by whatever forces for us to be here and many fools have made their way to positions we are in and I am at the very least not a fool and am going to prove it and let my work speak for itself.

3. My journal, it gives a birds eye perspective, plus clear my head, and if I need to I look back and read how I viewed some of the more dramatic things in the past that weren’t that deep, or were deep and could just let them stay right there on that page.

4. A quick message whenever I think about them, just a hey thinking about you can literally save lives and give lives meaning and a minimal sense of community.

I love number 4 - and you are so good at that. It feels good when someone checks in on you. Especially randomly.

Stanley, yes! The is the whole point. Something to refer back to. I can’t imagine how helpful something like this would have been for me. Do you have any little ones (nieces and nephews included)?

The verse that has grounded me this week has been, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27). Your post was so beautiful! Thank you Marco for sharing such an intimate letter with us...

I love that verse. Words like that really calm me especially when I am anxious. Be still and knowing He is present is so reassuring. I appreciate you for reading, Kat. I think vulnerability is really what I am striving for as a writer and a dad. I hope it continues to work in my favor.

Love this mission Marc! Letters have a way of truly distilling what we feel...I am a girl dad (two daughters 3 and 1), and wrote them a letter about the pursuit of contentment.

The beauty of writing letters is that it helps me (the writer) realize what's important.

Your affirmation is a true blessing! I similarly have one that I will share with my daughters as they age.

It's a simple quote from pastor Francis Chan:

"We are here to love (God, self, others). Not much else matters."

I repeat to myself often, “you lack nothing” and “there’s no need to compete or compare”.

We are doing our very best! Thank you Noha. I went back and forth between using the voice note - I’m one of those people that hates the sound of their voice lol but I’m getting out of my own way.

I’m one of those too lol. A couple of years ago I did ALOT of media spots fairly regularly and it was kind of extinction therapy for my voice hate 😂😂

2) I deal with imposter syndrome by trying to sublimate it into motivation, paradoxically enough.

I buy into the idea put forward by author Steven Pressfield in his book, The War of Art, which holds that imposter syndrome is one of the symptoms of Resistance, a universal force made manifest in the myriad things/ways/attitudes/beliefs which prevent you from answering your calling. Pressfield writes, "Like a magnetised needle floating on a surface of oil, Resistance will unfailingly point to true North--meaning that call or action it most wants to stop us from doing.

"We can use this. We can use it as a compass. We can navigate by Resistance, letting it guide us to that calling or action that we must follow before all others.

"Rule of thumb: The more important a call or action is to our soul's evolution, the more Resistance we will feel toward pursuing it."

Now, it's far easier said than done, but at the very least, I try to adhere to that rule. It's what helped me push through a dark time after I launched my Substack and felt totally incapacitated by self-doubt. Similarly, I have allowed the feeling of imposter syndrome to motivate me to return to writing fiction, which I abandoned about ten years ago when I successfully convinced myself that I was, indeed, an imposter! I still feel that way--it's just how I react to those feelings when they arise that's changed (hopefully for the better!).

I appreciate you for sharing C.D. Imposter syndrome is so real for me in so many ways. While I try to lean on faith, sometimes the thoughts just creep in. I love what you offered. It made me think about the role in parenting in helping their children believe in themselves. I also wonder if imposter syndrome is the Creator’s design in keeping us humble in someway. I appreciate you for engaging. You have the wheels on my mind turning!

The first voice note 🥹 yesss speak life over Myles

Jeremiah 29:11

I deal with imposter syndrome by being reflective

One of the Deacons in my church is my go to as he has claimed me as his child. He’s just always there and loves me unconditionally.

I just check on them when they cross my mind.

Reading your affirmations along with the biblical text made tears form because you know that God created you perfect, whole, and on a divine mission, but sometimes, you don’t know. And it’s a new level of confirmation to see it written so plainly and sourced from an ancient text. Your writing is a devotion to gratitude and I love that for your heart.

Diauni, as much as I know - to be honest at times I forget. Writing these down new minds me how wonderful we are and carrying for a child just further magnifies that. There’s a softness in me that’s always been there but it’s awakening more and more when it comes to him. I’m grateful for it. Thank you for reading .

It's everywhere, sometimes obvious or just under the surface. Each passing day adds new color to the meaning of chaos for me, so thank you for adding to that palette.
